Smart Irrigation Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture: Applications of IoT, AI, Remote Sensing, and Data Analytics

Abstract
Efficient irrigation management is essential for sustainable agriculture and optimal water resource utilization. Traditional irrigation practices often result in water losses and inefficient water distribution. Recent advances in digital technologies have enabled the development of smart irrigation systems that improve water use efficiency and crop productivity. This study reviews the applications of advanced technologies in irrigation, including Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), cloud computing, and robotics. These technologies enable real-time monitoring of soil moisture and environmental conditions, predictive irrigation scheduling, and automated water management. The integration of these technologies supports precision irrigation practices and contributes to sustainable agricultural development and improved water management.
